Routine Tasks – to be carried out every month, unless otherwise instructed.

Inspection of children’s play areas in West Tanfield (near Village Hall), Nosterfield (Village Green) and Thornborough (centre of village) – location of Thornborough site given on map below. To include any remedial works that can be undertaken immediately and any maintenance works at the caretaker’s discretion. Also to include the following:

• Complete inspection checklist and return to Clerk.
• Close any items of equipment found to be in a dangerous condition and report to the Clerk as soon as possible.
• Pick and dispose of any litter.
• Pick up and dispose of any dog waste.

Please carefully check all play areas and give general maintenance / TLC (e.g. greasing bearings on swings) as required.

Ensure that village signs at West Tanfield (near bridge), Nosterfield (on B6267) and Thornborough (each end of village) are clean and clear of weeds / grass growth. To include regular washing of signs.

Other Tasks (to be undertaken in order on list, unless agreed otherwise):

Attend Nosterfield Village Green and clear up any mess and make good any damage to grass surface.

Spray off weeds at edge of pavements and roads throughout Thornborough.

Spray off, with a suitable chemical, the grass growing round all items of play equipment and benches in playgrounds.

Re-plant bed under West Tanfield Village Sign (located near bridge). Budget is a maximum of £30 of plants. Please choose plants for colour, hardiness and longevity!

Rub down ‘Becca’s Bench’ in West Tanfield Play Area and Turner Trail bench near West Tanfield Village Sign (near bridge).

Apply teak oil if appropriate.

In Nosterfield please spray and clear the weeds growing around the old telephone box.

In Thornborough please spray and clear the weeds growing around the old telephone box.
